Festival of Lights

I invited myself to go with Kristian and his family to see the lights at Temple square. We all had dinner at my house and then bundled everyone up and headed to Salt Lake. Luckily it wasn't too cold which would have made for a pleasant experience except for the MILLIONS of people that were there!!! We had to park a ways away and then when we actually got in the temple gates it was complete madness! It was shoulder to shoulder people and you just had to move with the flow of people traffic. Poor kids and short people like me barely even saw any lights because of the wall of people. We managed to see a few things and get a few pictures but quickly decided we had had enough. Seriously people.... don't you have better things to do? Just because it's pretty and it's Christmas and it's a Saturday doesn't mean you all have to go do the same thing we are!! ;) Kristian Jamie and the kids Ken had drill so it was just me and Donovan The Boyz!! ;) The kids wanted to make some wishes so we dug out some pennies. Us grown ups even threw a few. It was funny because Jamie saw me deep in thought and was teasing me that I was wishing super hard for my wish. I was thinking hard but I was actually contemplating the fact that I couldn't come up with something to wish for. I thought how nice that I am so happy and content with my life that I can't think of anything more that I want or need :) Cheese :) ahhh :) Pretty Temple!! It was packed but it was fun I guess. At least we can say we did it right :)

Eat your heart out Martha!!

So we have been looking for ages trying to find the perfect Christmas Stockings. We want black ones and they are impossible to find. Well I guess not impossible because I found some online but they were $35 each and that is just way too much for me. Perhaps I am cheap, but I couldn't bring myself to pay that much. So I decided that perhaps I could make them. Which is completely mad because I don't know how to sew!! :) I can barely sew on a button but figured a stocking shouldn't be too hard. Ken and I went and picked the fabric and I had a game plan in my head. I went to my Mum's tonight and borrowed her sewing machine. It took a couple hours and a few times unstitching in places but I got them finished. And they turned out great!!!! I was so pleased!! So not bad for my first time!!! Who knows maybe I will attempt something harder someday. Or maybe I will quit while I am ahead :D

Happy Birthday to MEEEE :)

First of all let me just say that I have the most amazing husband in the world!!!! He spoils me rotten and makes me so happy!! :) We both took the day off for my birthday. Ken made me breakfast in bed!! He is the best! Then I met Stacie and Averee at Red Robin for lunch. It was fun to see them and we had a good time. When I got home, Ken had done the dishes and my present was waiting on the table. Have I mentioned that I love this man?!! He got me a new lens for my camera!! I was so excited! My Drivers License expired on my birthday so we stopped at the DMV to get that renewed. Luckily we were in and out in less than 15 mintues! Not bad! My military ID was expired as well so we stopped by Ken's work to get a new one. It had to be done that day because everything is open the same hours I work so I had to utilize the week day off. Oh well wasn't too bad. Then we went to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner. Of course we did because crab is my FAVORITE!!!!!! and it was yummy!! We went to a movie and had a nice night. My birthday was a Tuesday so it was back to work for the rest of the week. But Ken booked a condo in Park City for us Thursday night. He gets a great military deal twice a year and this was the first time we used it. It was HUGE and so nice. It felt a waste being just the two of us. Maybe next time we will invite some friends. It was a 3 bedroom 2 bath!! The next day we played at the Olympic Park. It was awesome. We played in the museum like some kids ;) Oh yeah that perfect score on the ski jump is mine!!!! Then we hiked up to the top of the luge track and watched some races. Some of them actually came and spoke to us and invited us to come check out the starting line! It was pretty interesting to watch. And it is CRAZY how fast they go!! On our hike back down Ken kicked a ball of snow and it kept getting bigger as he did so he started rolling it down the hill ;) we didn't have a carrot for the nose or we would have made it a snow man :) While we waited for the racers we saw a moose walking along the side of the mountain. And I got a pretty good shot with my awesome new lens :) We had such an awesome day and didn't want to leave. But we had another engagement to get to so we had to. We were cold and wet from the snow but smiling from a wonderful day!! Then Saturday Ken's family came over with some gifts. A blanket and a box of chocolates.... they know me so well!!!! I suppose it was more of a birthday week!!! It was so great and I am truly blessed!

So much for updates

So I haven't posted for so long because so much keeps happening and I get further and further behind. I had intended to post just 1 or 2 pictures with a brief description of what has been happening but since the last post was in July and I still haven't done it..... yeah isn't going to happen ;) So I am just going to start from today and hopefully stay on top with what's going on. Too bad nothing exciting happened today to blog about ;) Perhaps tomorrow will be more exciting :)

Nana and Grandad

3 years ago, my grandparents came for a visit and they decided it would be their last. They aren't getting any younger and the trip was just getting too hard so we all new they wouldn't be back to visit. I have a disease where I like to bury my head in the sand when things get hard and so I knew I may not see them again so decided it was too hard to face so I spent most of the visit all wrapped up in my new boyfriend Ken and didn't make the most of the time with my Grandparents. It was a VERY emotional goodbye when they left and since then I have truly regreted not spending every second with them on their visit. Luckily I was given a second chance as my grandparents couldn't stand being away and so decided to make the trip again. Right before they came we found out that my Grandad's cancer was back and had spread into his bones so his time was getting shorter. This time I vowed that as hard as it would be I had to make the most of every second..... and make the most we did. I kissed them every chance I could and am so grateful to share this time together. Please forgive the quantity of pictures, they are just the cutest so couldn't choose ;) We spent most of our time hanging around the different family houses. Grandad LOVED!! when Kristian brought his guitar. Cheers Nana!! I love you too!! Out to eat. We went swimming at Crystal Hot Springs 4th of July chillin' at my house They are the cutest couple in the world and after 66 years you can see how madly in love they are. I hope Ken and I can grow old to be just like them!!!! Love you Nana and Grandad!!
